I never went hunting with my dad. And now he can’t. Treasure this time with
    your son.

I have to ask, is making a shot from 1/2 mile a fair or ethical chase? How
good a hunter are you if the closest you can get is a 1/2 mile from your
prey. The shooter is a great shooter but is this what hunting is about?
    Just saying

I never understood “long range hunting”. I understand that it takes a lot
of skill to hit ur target at that distance but is that really hunting?
That’s all shooting skill but not much hunting skill in my opinion .

Dude, Gooch would be proud!! That was a textbook shot, with calling that
    elevation and wind.

Damn DOC. You are a super wealthy guy by most standards, and you of all
people don’t need to kill an ELK for food, and especially not for sport.
Nice shooting no doubt, but I’m really sad for you and your son who had to
witness such a waste of one of God’s greatest creatures. And might I add,
the soft piano music and slow motion replays of the kill, doesn’t make your
conduct any more acceptable or funny. Have fun munching on your
unsuspecting victim as you brag & gloat over your shooting skills. Haz

What a great memory for both you and your son. The great thing about
hunting is there are a dozen ways to skin a cat. Your way works too brother
    : )

Congratulations Doc! It’s funny, nobody ever considers the not so sexy 308
win as a long-range big game cartridge. “it’s only good out to 250 yards
and that’s pushing it” so many say. That’s when I pull up your long-range
elk rig/ videos. I usually end it with “Nuff said”. I just recently
purchased A savage 10 TR .308 along with the same PST that’s on your rig.
Hope to Pop its cherry with a nice Canadian whitetail next week. I do have
one question though…. What do you consider the minimum required velocity/
Energy for med-big game (deer, elk, moose)? I can never find the same
    answer twice. Take care DTD!

I wasn’t going to “Like” the video until I read some of the comments and
your replies. Obviously a Great Shot! Not my choice for a kill, but after
reading about the “Management” aspect, you were spot on w/ your choice!!
Thanks for the Vid and maybe include the management aspect in the
description next time to avoid some of the IDIOTS!! Not that it always
helps, but for the rest of us, it’s a good thing! Thanks for the Vid Doc!
