John, what are your thoughts on the SST bullets? I tried them in my .308
last year and found that the bullet fragmented a lot more than I cared
for. I still had a clean kill but it ended up causing one heck of a mess.
I’m trying the Hornady GMX this year but haven’t gotten a shot yet.
Excellent video!! We have been trying to manage our family hand for the
last several years here in southern PA, the trail camera pictures have been
getting better and better every year, and it finally paid of this year I
killed a 127 1/8 inch 9 point I been seeing all year! My best buck to date.
We have potential for sure just need more people to pass on small buck.
You do realize that deer do not have a red cone in their eye and cannot
distinguish reds and oranges from green and brown, right? Sneaking up on a
deer in orange is no different than sneaking up on a deer in full camo.
some good footage, but as has been said, sneaking up on a deer in orange is
no different than sneaking up wearing any other color of clothing
That broke antler buck looked like he had been through the wringer. Good
video. Looking forward to more.
That half rack was a big body deer. That’s the biggest I’ve seen you film
in a while.
Nice video John!! And self filmed to boot! Really think you should
consider writin a book!!!! Thanks….
My point is john is that after seeing your videos you have way more deer on
that property than what the average hunter has so that’s why it is not the
norm..I hunt some local SGL and have to bust a$$ to see a deer and just
over the mtn. on private ground they see soooo many deer just like you
do.There is no comparison to where you hunt and hunting some other areas in
the state. If a deer is seen you better shoot it if you want it.Try reading
the posts in the General hunting forum on Pa. hunting.com about SGL 211 in
Dauphin county and thousands of acres.Try hiking up in 2.5hrs to find a
good spot like the one hunter does. Not all of us can live in Clarion and
other areas where deer #’s are higher.Private ground is where the #’s are
higher. No question about it.Had a nephew just take a descent buck out your
way on ANF Marienville.
Love the way you hunt John,it’s funny to see the jealousy in the comments.
You deserve the beautiful land you hunt with all your hardwork and
dedication!
As always another good video. I love watching true Western PA deer
hunting! It’s been a long time since you got a buck, would really like to
see John get a big buck this year! With all the hard work and knowledge of
the land and deer patterns you are due!
Totally enjoy the passion you show through your videos. I hunt Crawford
County in WMU 1B. The deer are plentiful. We mostly take does for meat.
When we take a buck it is something that makes a memory. Having to
positively identify three points per side irrespective of the brow tine
makes a hunter spend more time observing and less time shooting. I believe
the discipline has made us all better stewards of this resource. I have the
utmost respect for your ethics and am honored to share Penns Woods with
you. Great video.
How do you get another video playing at the end of your video? Is it
through Youtube annotations? Great Video as always
You can wear solid blaze orange from head to toe. It doesn’t matter. How
you move is all that matters. In the video you talk about learning and
enhancing, so I see your replies that you think camo is important, but I
triple dog dare you, go hunting with all orange someday, and see what
happens.
Some nice bucks there. I hunt public land in Lehigh and carbon county and
seen a lot of nice bucks this year. I hunt 5c so doe season comes early.
Gun season here on public land gets a crazy amount of pressure and usually
pushes the deer to the private property or makes them move well after legal
hunting hours but I never see anyone hunting late muzzleloader or archery.
I will be out late muzzleloader and checking my trap line. Good luck with
the flintlock this season. Also looking forward to some trapping videos.
