how far was that shot? It looked like 230yds, but hard to tell. I have a tag for bull and cow elk in the missouri river breaks mt for fall 2011. I cant wait, Ive never taken an elk.

I like how you hunters are in it for the meat; while respecting elk for the incredible creatures that they are. Still car hunting, but a good hunting video overal.

Wow just gotta say live in colorado and have been elk hunting for over 10 yrs here and this vid doesnt do us justice. If your true meat hunters you would have shot the calf and not off the hood of your truck lol. Figures private land too..maybe you better get a diff blueprint for that 700

Dude seriously? The guy was 61 years old when this was shot and had a hip replacement 5 months earler! Two months prior to this he was in New Mexico hunting elk on foot. This hunt just happened to be a land owners tag on his own property. Why dont you thank him and all the other ranchers that house all winter the game you like to hunt. Have a little respect. Also the elk in colorado at this time of year are on the winter range and can be driven to also. Thanks for your comment though.

I find it interesting how many of the commenters here degrade the hunter for hunting near his truck. There was never a rule or moral code in the world of hunting that says “unless you hike 50 miles uphill and pack the animal out on your back…then you are not a true hunter!” You idiots ever stop to think that maybe on this piece of private land, road hunting is how its done? And for the bigger idiots who think its illegal to shoot using the truck as a rest…you are just that…retarded idiots!
